Hey Plately Pty Ltd ("Plately", "we", "us" or "our") is committed to protecting the privacy of our users in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and your rights as a user.

By using the Plately platform at heyplately.com.au, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

We collect personal information you provide directly to us when you create an account and use our service:

  • Account information: your name and email address
  • Dietary preferences: dietary requirements, food allergies, intolerances, cuisine preferences and foods you dislike
  • Health and wellness data: optional information including body weight, height, age, sex, calorie targets and fitness goals you choose to provide for personalised meal planning
  • Household information: number of people in your household, whether you have children, and age groups of children
  • Usage data: how you interact with our service, meal ratings, and meal plan history
  • Shopping preferences: your preferred shopping day and weekly grocery budget

We also automatically collect certain technical information when you use our service, including IP address, browser type, and general usage patterns, for the purpose of improving the service and monitoring security.

3. How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Generate personalised meal plans tailored to your household's preferences, dietary needs and nutritional goals
  • Produce shopping lists based on your meal plans
  • Send you transactional and service-related emails (such as account confirmation, meal plan notifications and reminders)
  • Improve and develop the Plately product based on how users interact with it
  • Respond to your support enquiries and communications
  • Comply with our legal obligations

We will not use your personal information for purposes beyond those described here without first obtaining your consent.

4. Third-party services

To deliver the Plately service, we share your information with the following third-party providers. Each provider handles your data in accordance with their own privacy policies.

  • Vercel (vercel.com): our hosting and infrastructure provider. Vercel processes requests and serves our application.
  • Neon (neon.tech): our database provider. Your account data and meal plan history are stored securely on Neon's infrastructure.
  • Brevo (brevo.com): our email service provider. We use Brevo to send transactional emails such as welcome messages and meal plan notifications.

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information to any third party for marketing purposes.

5. Data security

We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. This includes:

  • Encrypted data transmission using HTTPS/TLS
  • Access controls limiting who within our team can access personal data
  • Secure, hosted database infrastructure
  • Encrypted password storage

While we take these precautions, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Data retention and deletion

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. If you choose to delete your account, we will delete your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required by law to retain it.

Plately is designed for use by adults. If you add household members including children, only age-group information is collected (not the child's name by default). We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by email or via a notice on our platform. Your continued use of Plately after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
